Kendyl Penney, MusicalTheatre    

 Kendyl Penney has spent a lifetime entertaining others, from family members as the youngest sibling, to performing lead roles on stage. With over 20 years of dance experience and more than a decade of theatre experience, she has developed a deep appreciation for the performing arts and the power they have to inspire confidence, creativity, connection. For more than five years, she has choreographed for productions and performances for the Old Grantsville Church.  She strives to create an environment where actors feel empowered to embrace their individuality, explore their creativity, develop their craft, and discover the unique strengths that make them who they are. Through theatre, she hopes to inspire young performers to grow. 

Courtney Jorgensen, Basic Theatre

Hello! My name is Courtney Jorgensen, and I'm 27 years old. I'm an actress, dancer, singer, and

choreographer, and I'm so excited to be teaching this class! I have always loved both theater and working

with children, so I'm really looking forward to combining those two passions this fall. I've been performing in theatrical productions since I was little and have appeared in more than 35 shows, including several lead roles. I've also taken theater classes throughout high school and at Utah State

University, where I earned my Associate's Degree. Along the way, I've trained in dance, voice, improv, and ballroom dance. I especially love musicals and murder mysteries!

I've worked several years as a nanny, a swim instructor, and served as a teacher's assistant for children's

drama classes. I believe children learn best when they have structure, feel safe, and are having fun. I'll

work with parents to support children, including those with challenges or special needs. We'll work on our knowledge of theater and acting skills. I hope every student leaves our class with more confidence and a love for theater.

Ann Marie Sheets, Basic Theatre

Ann Marie Sheets is double majoring at the University of Utah in Theatre Teaching and Health and Kinesiology with an emphasis in Health and Physical Education Teaching, and completing minors in Special Education and Disability Studies. She will be student teaching this '26-'27 school year and was the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts and Education Theatre Fellow, a program that helps bring various art forms, including theatre, to elementary school students.  Ann Marie has been participating in theatre in various capacities since the age of 10. She has been an actor, choreographer, technical and stage crew member, stage manager, technical elements designer, assistant director, director, and lobby and concessions manager throughout that time. Some of her favorite roles and responsibilities include Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Nun (Sound of Music), Assistant Director (Finding Nemo), Sloth (Lucy, Baby), and Director (The Importance of Being Earnest). Ann Marie strives to make an environment where students feel safe to take acting and creative risks, feel cared for, embrace their own individuality and develop as diverse and unique individuals.  

Heidi Hughes, Musical Theatre

Heidi Hughes started performing at the age of five when she played “Gretel” in “Sound of Music” and fell immediately in love with the arts. She’s been in over 30 productions from age 5 to now 28. Some of her favorite dancing experiences include performing as a Young Performing Missionary in Nauvoo, IL, participating in jazz dance classes at BYU, and performing various roles in full scale ballet productions. She’s studied varies types of dance from middle school to present; including 10 years of ballet, 5 years of jazz, 5 years of clogging, and 1 year of tap. She primarily focuses on voice and has been taking consistent private vocal coaching since she was 11. She currently teaches private voice lessons, has taught at various studios for the past five years and enjoys being a part of community theater. While teaching, Heidi focuses on building confidence, correct technique, and developing a great love for the arts.
